Southern Minnesota’s Fort Ridgely State Park opens for the season this Memorial Day weekend. Nicollet County Historical Society Executive Director Ben Leonard says that they are trying something new this year by having the Commissary building at the fort open 4 days a week due to the 150th anniversary of the Dakota Conflict. Fort Ridgely State Park spans more than a thousand acres and sees over 59,000 visitors each year. The park includes a golf course, hiking trails, historical displays, camping, and more. A state park permit is required.
