Former Gustie to coach St Ben’s 16 May 12

The College of Saint Benedict welcomes new head softball coach Rachael Click to the department. Click comes to the Blazers from Jacksonville University where she served as a graduate assistant coach for the Dolphins in 2010. Prior to coaching at Jacksonville University, Click served as an assistant coach for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire from 2009-2010.

Click has an extensive softball background that is decorated with many awards and accomplishments. She graduated with Cum Laude Honors and a degree in Elementary Education from Gustavus Adolphus College, where she started four years on the softball team. Click was named rookie of the year in 2006 and received all-conference honors all four seasons for the Gusties.

During her senior season, Rachael was named team captain and MIAC Player of the year, as well as being named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament team. In 2009, Click received the honor of being named a NCAA All-American short stop. She holds school season records in batting average, slugging percentage, home runs, RBIs, and total bases.

Click also holds career softball records in slugging percentage, on base percentage, home runs, RBIs, and total bases at Gustavus. Rachael is a two-time ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America 1st Team award winner. She was named Female Athlete of the Year in 2009 at Gustavus and is a NCAA Post Graduate Scholar.

Click will take over as head softball coach for Denny Johnson this coming season. The Blazers finished fifth in the MIAC with an overall record of 18-16 and 10-12 in conference play last season.
