The final college baseball game scheduled to be played at old Seibert [[ SEE-bert ]] Field on the University of Minnesota campus is tonight. The Golden Gophers will host St. Thomas in a 6:35 p.m. game. The stadium has deteriorated to the point that Minnesota plays most of its home games at the Metrodome now, but tonight will have some historical significance. Former Gophers players, including Paul Molitor, will have ceremonial at-bats prior to tonight’s game and the family of the late Dick Seibert will be on hand, as well. Later this month, the Board of Regents is expected to approve construction of a new on-campus baseball stadium. If all goes to plan, ground should be broken in June.
