The New Ulm City Council on Tuesday approved a proposal to bring a Farmers Market to downtown New Ulm this summer. The New Ulm Retail Development Corporation’s Barb Marti talked to the council about the benefits of Farmers Markets. The downtown New Ulm Farmers Market will be held from 4 to 6pm on Mondays, July 16th through August 20th on the 100 Block of South Minnesota Street. It will be sponsored by KNUJ and the Heart of New Ulm, and would be an extension of the existing KNUJ Farmers Markets on Thursdays and Saturdays. A semi-permanent sign for the downtown location is currently being designed. In other business Tuesday, the New Ulm City Council held the final readings on ordinances allowing homeowners to pay for water line repairs through installments to the city and annexing land on the west end of town for a future Menard’s Store. The council also agreed to meet next Monday evening at 6 to discuss possible Eminent Domain proceedings on easements for the Minnesota River Flood Levy to be constructed on the south end of New Ulm.
