The Memorial Day weekend may be over, but a statewide seat belt enforcement campaign continues on for another week-and-a-half. Around 400 law enforcement agencies across Minnesota are taking part in the “Click It Or Ticket” crackdown. Properly wearing a seatbelt reduces the risk of fatal injury to front seat occupants by 45% in a car and 60% in a light truck. More than 400 unbelted motorists were killed in Minnesota over the last 3 years, or about 43% of the total motorist deaths. Local law enforcement officials will be working overtime in the coming days to help ensure seat belt compliance. This latest Click It Or Ticket effort runs through June 7th.
