A helicopter crash west of Delavan Friday evening injured the pilot and cut the power to the nearby town for a period of time. Witnesses say the copter got caught in some power lines at around 5:30pm and flipped over backwards before hitting the ground. The pilot, who is licensed by a company out of St. Peter, was reportedly spraying ditches when his aircraft became entangled. He was extricated from the helicopter and flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Authorities have not released the pilot’s name at this time, but do say that he was conscious and alert following the crash, and suffered possible broken bones and lacerations. The National Transportation Safety Board will reportedly be on the scene today (SAT) to investigate the crash.
