The Vikings welcomed first-round draft picks Matt Kalil of U-S-C and Notre Dame’s Harrison Smith to Minnesota Friday afternoon. Coach Leslie Frazier introduced Kalil as the Vikings “starting left tackle.” Kalil says he was praying that he would be picked the Vikings and Minnesota was one of the only places he could see himself playing. Smith says he wasn’t sure whether he’d be taken in the first round. The Fighting Irish safety says he wants to make plays that can ultimately change game. Kalil will wear number 67 for the Vikings and Smith picked 22.
