The countdown is on to the April 17th tax deadline. If you are having problems coming up with the money you owe on your taxes and want to avoid a major penalty, keep in mind, you do have options, such as filing an extension or setting up payment plans. IRS Spokesperson Carrie Resch says you can now file an extension online as well. She says in a matter of minutes, anyone, regardless of income, can use this free service to electronically request an automatic extension. Filing this form gives taxpayers until October 15th to file.
