The storms that swept across southern and central Minnesota on Sunday dumped heavy rain and hail, but caused no major damage. The National Weather Service says two tornadoes were spotted Sunday in McLeod County, including one in Brownton and one in Hutchinson. Another twister was seen in Lyon County. There have been no reports of damages or injuries from either county. Meteorologists say the potential for major storms was there, but “the ingredients didn’t all come together at the right time.” An estimated 2 inches of rain was reported 10 miles north of Montevideo, and hail measuring 1 inch in diameter was reported in Glencoe. New Ulm received around four-tenths of an inch of rain. Much of the KNUJ area was under a tornado watch until late Sunday night.
