Planting Progressing Rapidly 19 Apr 12

It’s been another busy week for farmers across Minnesota. The USDA reports that five full days had weather suitable for fieldwork over the past week, resulting in productive planting of oats, spring wheat and barley. Many crops are more than halfway planted already in Minnesota, a huge jump over the average planting rate during the past 5 years. The crop report also shows that 7% of the state’s corn is now planted despite overnight lows well below freezing for the first time since early March recently.
