The first wave of Minnesota National Guard soldiers from the New Ulm area arrived home Sunday evening. Around 50 soldiers arrived in New Ulm to cheering crowds lining the streets. New Ulm American Legion Commander Larry Hunstad says it was a great show of support, and that the local soldiers will now move on to the next phase of their military careers. The “Red Bulls” of the 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery spent 9 months in Kuwait as part of the final drawdown to the Iraq War. The remaining 50 or so soldiers from the New Ulm area are scheduled to arrive home on Monday, May 7th.
