The New Ulm District 88 School Board on Thursday agreed to seek bids on the sale of the district’s former middle school building. Superintendent Harold Remme says 2 groups have expressed interest in purchasing the District Administrative Center property, and they will be given a couple of options. Those include buying the building and property outright, or with conditions put on the sale such as allowing the school district to still utilize the building for 10 years, as an example. Remme says another issue would be what happens with the WPA-era murals in the middle school auditorium. The school board will reserve the right to reject any bids received. The bid deadline is June 15th, and the potential sale would happen no sooner than October 1st. In other business on Thursday, the District 88 School Board voted to seek bids on district technology infrastructure upgrades. Work would include updates to switches and wireless networks, and would be done this summer.
