The plan to construct a Menard’s store in the City of New Ulm will move closer to being a reality this (TUE) evening with a pair of items on the New Ulm City Council agenda. The council is scheduled to approve an ordinance annexing the land where a roundabout will be constructed for the store on Highway 14. The council will also authorize the city engineer to obtain a permit for the roundabout work from the state. In other business this evening, the council is scheduled to award the contract for over $1.5-million worth of improvements to Valley Street from 7th South to 12 South Streets. The council will also consider granting the August Schell Brewing Company a temporary liquor license for the new Lager Lauf Run/Walk event taking place May 19th. Beer would be served to event participants at Nehl’s Park. Today’s New Ulm City Council meeting starts at 5pm at city hall.
