A total of 2 candidates have applied for the vacant Ward 2 New Ulm City Council seat. The seat is empty following the resignation of Councilor Todd Olson due to a career move out of town. The 2 candidates that will be interviewed by the city council for the position on Monday are Lisa Fischer and Paul Warshauer. Fischer works as an energy services field representative for Missouri River Energy Services, and previously worked as a customer service coordinator and account clerk with the New Ulm PUC for 12 years. She grew up in rural New Ulm and has lived in the city since 1983. Warshauer is the first executive director of the New Ulm Actors Community Theatre, and has lived in New Ulm for about a half a year. His prior experience includes serving on United Way boards and building commissions in several cities. The candidate selected by the New Ulm City Council following Monday’s interviews will be sworn in during next Tuesday’s council meeting. The seat will then be on the ballot in New Ulm’s Ward 2 this November.
