GOP delegates at southern Minnesota’s First Congressional District Republican Convention on Saturday were unable to agree on a candidate to challenge Democratic Representative Tim Walz this November. Congressional District 1 GOP Chair Dave Kruse says that the district got 2 strong candidates. Delegates called it a night with no endorsement at around 2am Sunday, after 23 rounds of voting. In the last vote Allen Quist of St. Peter led Mike Parry of Waseca 137-124, but a 60% lead was needed to seal the endorsement. Another convention will be held in the coming weeks for the delegates to try again to choose a candidate.
