The Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office will be joined by students from the Nicollet public school this Friday for a mock drunk-driving and distracted-driving crash demonstration. Traffic crashes are the number-one killer of Minnesota teens, with more than 30 killed each year on the state’s roads. One-third of all traffic fatalities among teens are caused by drinking and driving as well, and distracted driving is a factor in one in four crashes. Teens also have the lowest rate of seat belt use among all age groups. Friday’s authentic crash demonstration at the Nicollet school gets underway at 12:45pm. Several other organizations will be assisting the sheriff’s office at the scene as well.
