McLeod County Fire Warning 07 Apr 12

The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents of the county and surrounding areas to use extreme caution while conducting controlled burns. Fire departments have been dispatched to numerous fires in the last several days in which supposed controlled burns have gotten out of control and required the response of numerous fire agencies. Authorities say if conditions continue to worsen, or if controlled burns continue to get out of control, they will be forced to implement county-wide burning restrictions. If you’re planning a controlled burn, use caution and don’t forget to notify the Sheriff’s Office before burning and when the burn is complete. A Burning Ban is in place in Redwood and other local counties until further notice, and a Red Flag Fire Danger warning will be in effect for the western half of the state through 8pm today (SAT).
