Mankato Bank Embezzlement 10 Apr 12

A 65-year-old Jackson woman has been charged with embezzlement in federal court for allegedly stealing around $108,000 from a bank in Mankato. The US Department of Justice has accused Carolyn Faye Hampel of diverting money from customer accounts at United Prairie Bank in Mankato between January 2005 and August 2011. She allegedly used the funds for personal use and to pay down the loan of a family member. She now faces up to 30 years in prison.
