A total of 215 Minnesota National Guard soldiers returned home from Kuwait Sunday, including troops from Redwood Falls and Hutchinson. Hundreds more will follow in the weeks to come. For some soldiers, the adjustment to home life can be difficult, but there are resources available to help smooth the transition, including Veterans Affairs, employment services, state patrol representatives, and a variety of other services to aid the troops in making the transition to being a Citizen-Soldier. Major Gerald Halloran says rejoining with their families and being in familiar surroundings are also crucial elements in soldier re-acclimation. Local National Guard Armories are being given advance notice of only a day or two of when their troops will be arriving home.
