Heroes Of Mn/DOT Awards 26 Apr 12

Governor Dayton on Wednesday thanked the “Heroes of Mn/DOT” by handing out award plaques in the State Capitol Rotunda. Among the Mn/DOT employees honored were Curt Broughten and Tom Johnson, who were plowing snow on Interstate-90 east of Albert Lea when a motorist went around one of the plows, rear-ended the other and spun into the median. The vehicle then started on fire, and the Mn/DOT employees extinguished the flames and rescued the driver trapped in the truck. Other MN/DOT employees were honored for saving a co-worker’s life, saving the life of a contractor injured at a work site, helping a mother whose baby was born in an ambulance during a blizzard, and for responding to a fire that threatened a dorm at the U-of-M.
