Five people were injured in a 3-vehicle crash just north of New Ulm Sunday evening. It happened at just after 7pm at the intersection of Highways 15 and 14, the “Y,” and involved a southbound Olds Cutlass, a northbound Chevy Aveo, and a westbound Pontiac G6. The driver of the Cutlass, 70-year-old Richard Kruse of Welcome and his passenger, 66-year-old Jolene Kruse both suffered minor injuries and were treated at the New Ulm Medical Center. The driver of the Chevy, 26-year-old Kory Midas of St. Cloud also suffered minor injuries, but his passenger, 22-year-old Elyse Balbaugh of Cheboygan, Michigan, and the passenger in the Pontiac, 26-year-old Jennifer Plisch of Hamburg, Wisconsin, received more serious injuries, although officials say those injuries are non life-threatening. They were also being treated in New Ulm. The driver of the Pontiac, 39-year-old Jeffrey Schmidt of Merrill, Wisconsin, escaped injury. Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.
