A 21-year-old Freeport man involved in a car crash in Blue Earth County last month has now been charged with criminal vehicular operation. Brant Tyler Johnson was reportedly driving erratically and at a high rate of speed on Stoltzman Road in Mankato at about 1:30am on March 23rd when he apparently lost control on a curve and crashed into a tree. Johnson was uninjured in the crash, but it reportedly took rescuers over an hour to remove his passenger, Christopher Paul Thompson. He has since been released from the hospital. A breath test at the time of the crash put Johnson’s blood-alcohol level at .167%, more than twice the legal limit to drive. He’s scheduled to appear in court on April 23rd on 2 felony charges.
