A Fairfax man suffered minor injuries in an accident on Highway 14 Saturday night that knocked out power to the City of Courtland for several hours. 23-year-old Johnathan Reed reportedly feel asleep at the wheel at around 10pm Saturday and his Ford Taurus crossed the centerline and hit a utility pole, causing a power outage in Courtland and leaving live wires sparking on the ground. State Troopers were unable to pull Reed from his car for over 20 minutes due to the live wires. Reed’s Taurus also hit mailboxes, a tree, and some landscaping rocks. The vehicle took moderate damage, and Reed was treated at the New Ulm Medical Center and later released. More than 600 Courtland residents were in the dark for about 8 hours after the crash. Power was restored at around 6:30 Sunday morning.
