When Minnesota lawmakers come back from their Easter/Passover Break next Monday, one item on their plate will be how much to spend on renovating Minnesota’s aging State Capitol building. The House has proposed $220-million to do required work over the space of a few years, but Senate Majority Leader Dave Senjem says the senate may not be ready for the proposal yet. He says the renovations could take about 35,000 square feet of usable space out of service. But House Speaker Kurt Zellers says it’s up to lawmakers to take care of the Capitol building, for themselves and for the state of Minnesota.
