Nearly 100 military family members, community members and local employers attended a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon of Watonwan County event recently. Those attending the Community Resources 4EVER event at the National Guard Armory in St. James were treated to a pork chop dinner and informative presentations by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development and the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. The goal of the event was to create employment opportunities and support for the hundreds of members of the 34th Infantry Division, 1st Brigade Combat Team set to return from Kuwait this spring. A career expo is being planned for the returning veterans as well. More than 20 local businesses were on hand for the recent event, and many local organizations helped out as well, including the St. James Boy Scouts and High School National Honor Society.
