A tentative trial date has been set for a former Jessenland Township resident accused of murdering her infant child more than a decade ago. 29-year-old Amy Ann Romero was arrested in Missouri in early January and was indicted on 1st-degree murder charges in Sibley County. Romero was known as Amy Aune when she reportedly gave birth to a child identified as Ava Juanita Aune during the early morning hours of April 28th, 2001, and then allegedly left the newborn in a wooded area near her home in Henderson later that afternoon. No other details have been released. Romero remains in custody in the Sibley County Jail. A May 15th deadline for motions in the case has been set, and if any motions are filed Romero’s next court hearing will be June 1st. Her trial is tentatively set to get underway on September 11th.
