Kings Clobber Wolves
(Sacramento, CA) — Marcus Thornton scored 24 points as the Kings used a second-half surge to clobber the Timberwolves, 115-99. The Kings outscored the Wolves 58-42 after intermission. Kevin Love finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds for Minnesota, which has dropped three in-a-row. Derrick Williams had 16 points and nine rebounds in the loss. The Wolves are right back in action tonight against the Warriors at 9:30.
Gophers Face Hurricanes
(Miami, FL) — Minnesota is on the road to face second-seeded Miami in the second round of the NIT. The sixth-seeded Gophers knocked off La Salle, 70-61, in the opening round last Wednesday. Tonight’s game is at 8:00.
Twins Trounce Pirates
(Lee County, FL) — Francisco Liriano tossed five no-hit innings as the Twins trounced the Pirates, 10-0. Liriano and four other pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout. Liriano struck out six, while Brian Dozier hit a solo homer as part of a 13-hit attack. The Twins face the Red Sox this afternoon.
Lady Gophers Win Hockey Title
(Duluth, MN) — The Minnesota women’s hockey team captured the national title with a 4-2 win over Wisconsin yesterday. Noora Raty made 42 saves for the Lady Gophers, who took home their first championship since 2005. Emily West scored on a penalty shot in the victory.
Canucks Clash With Wild
(St. Paul, MN) — The Wild will clash with the Canucks at The X this evening. Minnesota suffered a 5-3 loss to the Hurricanes its last time out on Saturday. Minnesota has dropped three straight and eight of its last nine. The puck drops at 7:00.
