Vikings Ink Pair
(Eden Prairie, MN) — The Vikings have signed free agent cornerback Zach Bowman and re-signed linebacker Erin Henderson. Bowman spent last season with the Bears. He’s made 16 starts since breaking into the league in 2008. Henderson had 70 tackles in 15 games with the Vikes last year.
Grizzlies Outlast Wolves
(Memphis, TN) — Rudy Gay led all five starters in double-figures with 21 points as the Grizzlies outlasted the Timberwolves, 93-86. Kevin Love collected 28 points and 11 rebounds for the Wolves, who have lost six-of-eight. Wayne Ellington dropped in 15 points off the bench in the loss. The Wolves face the Bobcats in Charlotte at 6:00 tonight.
Gophers Top Huskies In OT
(New York, NY) — Andre Hollins had 20 points as Minnesota knocked off Washington in overtime, 68-67, in the semifinals of the NIT. Rodney Williams added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Gophers, who will face Stanford in the championship game tomorrow.
Rangers Edge Wild
(St. Paul, MN) — Ruslan Fedotenko’s goal 13:37 into the third period gave the Rangers a 3-2 win over the Wild. Kyle Brodziak and Mikko Koivu scored in the second period for Minnesota, which has dropped three straight. Josh Harding stopped 29 shots in the setback. The Wild will host the Panthers tomorrow night.
Twins Blank O’s
(Sarasota, FL) — The Twins notched a 5-0 win over the Orioles in Grapefruit League play yesterday. Anthony Swarzak and two other pitchers combined to take a no-hitter into the eighth inning. Jamey Carroll’s two-run double highlighted a three-run second inning. The Twins host the Phillies this afternoon.
Twins’ Thompson Suspended
(New York, NY) — Twins minor league pitcher Aaron Thompson has been suspended 50 games for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Thompson, who is on the roster of the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings, was banned after a second violation for a drug of abuse.
