Bryant-Led Lakers Trounce Love-Less Wolves
(Los Angeles, CA) — A masked Kobe Bryant scored 31 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out eight assists to lead the Lakers to a 104-85 win over the Timberwolves. Bryant wore the protective mask for the nasal fracture he suffered in the All-Star Game. Martell Webster and Michael Beasley had 14 points apiece for the Wolves, who had won their previous two. Kevin Love missed the game with the flu. The Wolves are right back on the court this evening to continue a four-game road swing against the Phoenix Suns.

Wild Start Brief Road Trip
(Montreal, Quebec) — The Minnesota Wild departs on a brief two-game road trip this evening against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre. The Wild are coming off a 4-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday to fall to 28-26-and-9 on the season. Minnesota wraps up the road swing tomorrow evening at Detroit.

Gophers Wrap Up Regular Season Saturday
(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Golden Gophers return to Minneapolis on Saturday afternoon to host Nebraska in their regular season finale. Minnesota beat the Cornhuskers earlier this season in Lincoln. The Gophers suffered a 52-45 setback at 15th-ranked Wisconsin on Tuesday to fall to 17-and-13 overall and 5-and-12 in the Big Ten.

Report: MLB Close To 10-Team Playoff Field
(Undated) — Major League Baseball and the players association are reportedly close to announcing a 10-team playoff field. According to ESPN, the changes would take effect this October. Under the new format, the two wild card teams from each league will meet in a playoff with the three division winners being awarded a first-round bye.
