(Minneapolis, MN) — Luke Ridnour missed a three-pointer at the buzzer as the Los Angeles Lakers edged the Minnesota Timberwolves, 105-102. Nikola Pekovic (NEE-koh-luh PECK-oh-vitch) and Derrick Williams scored 25 and 22 points, respectively. Peckovic added 13 boards in the loss and Williams had 10. Ricky Rubio added 15 points in the loss–but also may have torn his ACL. Rubio will undergo an MRI on his left knee this morning. Minnesota was without Kevin Love, who missed the game due to back spasms. Minnesota’s three-game win streak came to a close. The Wolves are back on the home court this evening against the New Orleans Hornets.

(Indianapolis, IN) — Trey Burke tallied 30 points to help the 13th-ranked Michigan Wolverines to a 73-69 overtime victory against the Golden Gophers in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. Michigan advances to play Ohio State in the semifinals today. Andre Hollins totalled 21 points and six assists in the loss. Rodney Williams added 20 points and six boards for Minnesota, which ends the season at 19-and-14.

(St.Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Boys’ State Hockey Tournament wraps up today (Sat) at the Xcel Energy Center with the Class A and Two-A championships. Unbeaten Hermantown advanced to the One-A title game with a 3-2 victory over Thief River Falls in the semifinals. Jared Thomas scored the game-winner in the third period. The Hawks will play defending One-A champion St. Thomas Academy in the championship game at noon today. Goaltender David Zevnik made 25 saves as the Cadets shut out Breck 1-0 Friday afternoon. Hill-Murray is headed to the Class Two-A championship after a 2-1 overtime win against Moorhead. Conrad Sampair scored 1:51 into overtime to give the Pioneers the semifinal victory. Hill-Murray takes on Benilde St. Margarets in the Two-A title game tonight (7pm) in St. Paul. Dan Labosky had a hat trick as the Red Knights routed Lakeville South 10-1 Friday night.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Erik Haula scored twice and Kent Patterson made 16 saves as the Gopher men skated past North Dakota 2-1 Friday in the W-C-H-A playoffs. Game two of the best-of-three series is tonight (Sat) at Mariucci Arena. If necessary, the teams will meet again on Sunday at 7 pm.

Jason Marquis allowed a run and three hits while walking two in his three-inning outing. Minnesota heads to Bradenton this afternoon to face the Pittsburgh Pirates.
