Minnesota Senate Republicans on Wednesday unveiled a $496-million Bonding Bill for building and infrastructure projects around the state. The Senate’s bonding proposal is considerably smaller than Governor Dayton’s $775-million proposal, but only a few million dollars less than the amount proposed by House Republicans. The House GOP bonding bill includes a $280-million list of projects and another $220-million to renovate the State Capitol. The Senate alternative puts a much heavier emphasis on individual projects, including $179-million for colleges and universities and $125-million for state asset preservation, and then only $25-million for renovations at the State Capitol. It does not include proposed renovations to the Mankato Event Center.
