Work is underway on the construction of a new water tower in the City of Fairfax. Earth-moving began this week on the $717,000 project. The new 150,000 gallon water tower will replace the city’s 110-year-old 100,000 gallon tower a block away from the site of the new one. The project has been in the planning stages for several years. It’s being financed with bonds through the Minnesota Public Utility Commission, and General Contracting Services of Shakopee is doing the majority of the construction work. Subcontract work is being done by TNT Construction of Morgan. The project is expected to be completed in approximately 18 months.
