McLeod Food Donations Down 28 Mar 12

Officials with the McLeod Emergency Food Shelf say that food collections around the county are down considerably from this time last year. Matching grants are available for food shelves during the month of March from Minnesota Food Share, but to date, only 9,000 pounds of food has been donated towards the McLeod County food drive this month. That’s the equivalent of a one-week supply, and compares to over 100,000 pounds collected at this point last year. The McLeod Emergency Food Shelf distributed a total of more than 386,000 pounds of food and supplies throughout McLeod County last year, which was up 42% from the previous year.
