The 47th annual New Ulm St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place Saturday evening in downtown New Ulm. The oldest continuous St. Patrick’s Day parade in the state of Minnesota gets underway at 5pm Saturday at 3rd South and Minnesota Streets in New Ulm and travels the wrong way through downtown to the Glockenspiel. New Ulm’s Good Will Ambassadors the Concord Singers perform traditional Irish tunes at Don’s Pub, also known as the Kaiserhoff, following the parade.
St. Patrick’s Day festivities are taking place in the cities of St. Peter and Bele Plaine on Saturday as well. In St. Peter, the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at 3pm Saturday at Broadway and 3rd Streets, and travels south along 3rd to Mulburry Street. The St. Peter High School Band will be taking part in the parade, along with a 10-piece band. Several St. Peter businesses have St. Patrick’s Day events planned throughout the evening as well. The Belle Plaine St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at 1pm Saturday. Participants will line up at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church and proceed through downtown Belle Plaine to the State Bank of Belle Plaine. At the end of the parade the clan with the most participants will be recognized, and a new Miss Shamrock will be crowned, amongst other activities. There are a total of 6 young ladies vying for the Miss Shamrock title in Belle Plaine this year.
