A judge is waiting to hear from potential jurors before deciding whether Jennifer Nibbe’s murder trial needs to be moved out of the Mankato area. Nibbe is facing first and second-degree murder charges for the shooting death of her husband James Nibbe in their house south of Lake Crystal in 2010. Defense attorney Rick Hillesheim filed a motion asking Judge Bradley Walker to move the trial out of the Mankato area because he is concerned about the video of Nibbe’s jail confession that became public. It’s also available, along with other news stories about the case, on the internet. Judge Walker said he has decided it will be best to start jury selection in Blue Earth County and if potential jurors know too much or say they can’t be impartial, he will consider moving the trial, which is scheduled to start April 2.
