The New Ulm Area Emergency Food Shelf set a one day record for usage Monday. Don Brand says there were 38 families that came in for food in the afternoon and another 16 in the evening. Both numbers are records for those respective shifts. The previous records were 34 and 11. The one-day total of 54 families broke the old record of 43. The food shelf began adding the first Monday night of the month last year to accomodate families that couldn’t come during the daytime.
