State Representative Glenn Gruenhagen of rural Glencoe received the Republican endorsement for the new House District 19B over the weekend. The Freshman Representative Gruenhagen beat out 3-term Representative Ron Shimanski of Silver Lake for the endorsement after the second round of ballots on Saturday. The new district includes all of Sibley County and much of McLeod County. Gruenhagen’s former district before the lines were redrawn this year included parts of Le Sueur and Scott Counties as well. Shimanski has promised to abide by the delegate’s preference and not run against Gruenhagen in an August primary.
