New Ulm City Councilor Todd Olson will be submitting his resignation from the council during the upcoming meeting on Tuesday. Olson was reportedly offered the opportunity to lead a large Edward Jones office in Onalaska, Wisconsin. He will be moving at the end of March and begins his new position on April 2nd. His wife will finish teaching the current school year in New Ulm before joining him in Wisconsin. A replacement for Olson on the city council will need to be appointed by the Council until the next municipal election this November. The candidate who wins the election will then serve the remainder of Olson’s term. He was originally appointed to the Council in January of 2008 to fill a vacancy caused by the resignation of Ron Fleischmann. Olson was then elected to the seat in November of 2008 and again in 2010.
