The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to be alert after a rash of burglaries around the county recently. At least 10 incidents have been reported over the past month on rural Brown County farmsteads. Sheriff Rich Hoffmann says the crimes involve intruders going into houses and looking for valuables, and that residents should watch for suspicious people on their property. He says the suspects will often claim to be there to collect scrap metal, or possibly to fix a TV antenna or lightning rod. Sheriff Hoffmann says that anyone who sees something suspicious should contact authorities immediately, and not feel like they’re bothering the sheriff’s office by giving them information. Investigations into the crimes continue, and anyone with information is asked to call (507)233-6700.
