An apartment building in the City of Hutchinson was destroyed by a fire Monday morning. Authorities report that all 7 units in the building on California Street in northwest Hutchinson were destroyed. No firefighters were injured battling the fire, although a police officer hurt his arm while catching a resident jumping from a second-story window and 2 apartment residents were hospitalized. The Red Cross is working with the families that lost their homes in the blaze, and a shelter has been set up at Christ the King Church in Hutchinson. The investigation into the cause of the fire continues, and the building has been declared a total loss.
