Two people were injured in a car crash at the junction of Highways 19 and 71 in the City of Morton Tuesday afternoon. The crash occurred at just before 3pm. A 2006 Buick driven by 78-year-old Ann Marie Johnson of Bird Island collided with a 2000 Dodge driven by 18-year-old Veda McFarland of Franklin. Both drivers were taken to the Redwood Area Hospital following the crash, and their injuries are said to be non life-threatening. They were both wearing their seatbelts. Both of the vehicles involved were totaled.
A Glencoe teenager was hospitalized Tuesday night after he lost control of his vehicle on Highway 212. 17-year-old Sawyer Bendorf was travelling westbound on 212 when he lost control at about 7:30pm and drove into the ditch near the intersection with Chandler Avenue in Glencoe. His Buick Riviera then struck a tree. Bendorf complained of nose and head pain due to the deployment of his vehicle’s airbag, and he was taken to the Glencoe Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening. The highway was reportedly wet at the time of the accident.
