A Union Pacific train derailed Monday night just outside the City of Brewster. Authorities say that the derailment involved a total of 23 rail cars, and occurred at around 8:30pm near Highway 60. No one was injured in the derailment, and no hazardous materials were spilled. A Union Pacific spokesperson says that 4 of the cars were loaded with sand, 1 with beans and 18 were empty. Crews are working to repair approximately 1,000 feet of track. The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
