Clear Lake in Brown County was closed to all vehicle traffic, including cars, trucks, SUV’s, snowmobiles and ATV’s, as of Monday. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office closed Clear Lake to all vehicular traffic due to increasingly unpredictable lake ice conditions and highly variable changes in ice thickness over a relatively short distance. All larger fish houses with wheels that need a motor vehicle to pull them from the ice should be removed immediately. Authorities say that people walking or fishing on Clear Lake should use extreme caution as well due to the thin ice conditions, and that caution should be used on all lakes in the Brown County area due to the effect the weather has had on the ice. The deadline to remove fish houses from all lakes in the southern two-thirds of the state is this coming Monday as well.
