Timberwolves 108 – Nets 105
(Newark, NJ) — Kevin Love scored 20 points and hauled in 10 boards as the Timberwolves held off New Jersey, 108-105. Nikola Pekovic (NEE-koh-luh PECK-oh-vitch) scored 27 to go with 11 rebounds while Ricky Rubio had 10 points with 10 caroms and six assists. Minnesota has won two of its last three games. The Nets suffered their third loss in four games despite a game-high 42 points from Anthony Morrow.

Gophers Getting Ready
(Minneapolis, MN) — Both the University of Minnesota men’s and women’s basketball teams are preparing for games tomorrow. Tubby Smith’s Golden Gophers leave for Nebraska today and play the Cornhuskers at noon tomorrow in Lincoln. Pam Borton’s team will host Penn State on Sunday at 2 p.m. Both Minnesota teams are coming off of weeknight road losses.

Gopher Baseball Weekend
(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota baseball team throws out the first pitch of its season this weekend with the annual Pro-AluMNi and Legends game today at the Metrodome at 3 p.m. The game does not count as an official contest in the Gopher record, but will be a marquee event. Former Gophers and current big leaguers Glen Perkins and Jack Hannahan will play for the Pro-AluMNi team against the current group of Gophers. Hall of Famer Paul Molitor will manage the Pro-AluMNi team with help from former major leaguer Greg Olson and former Gopher great Mark Merila. Festivities begin at 12:30 p.m. at the dome with batting practice. There was a Friday night fundraising dinner at TCF Bank Stadium in conjunction with the weekend.

Wild Make Trade
(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Wild acquired New York Ranger center Erik Christensen in exchange for forward Casey Wellman. The transaction was completed yesterday. The 28-year-old Christensen has played in 20 games for the Rangers this season and has one goal and four assists. He originally came into the league with Pittsburgh. Wellman has two goals and five assists in 14 games this year for Minnesota. The Wild also get a seventh-round draft choice from New York. The Wild sent Chad Rau back to AHL Houston, as well.

Minnesota at Dallas
(Dallas, TX) — The Minnesota Wild have won three of their last four games and will try to continue their recent fine play with a game tonight at Dallas. The Wild beat Colorado 1-0 on Thursday behind goaltender Niklas Backstrom. He will get the start in tonight’s 7 p.m. game.

Swarm In Action
(Rochester, NY) — The National Lacrosse League’s Minnesota Swarm play in Rochester, New York tonight to take on the Knighthawks in a 6:30 p.m. game Minnesota is 1-and-1 this season, while Rochester is 1-and-3. Minnesota returns home for a home game next weekend against the Edmonton Rush on Friday.
