The Polar Bear Plunge was held in St. Peter over the weekend to benefit the Special Olympics, and this year’s event is being called a success. The wind chill was around 4-degrees Sunday afternoon at Hallett’s Pond in St. Peter. This was the 6th year of the Minnesota Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge, and both the number of people taking the plunge and the amount of money raised was up. A total of approximately 615 plungers took part, raising over $100,000 for the Special Olympics in the process. In 2011, 425 plungers raised around $74,000.
