Two New Ulm men face multiple charges over allegations that they took a deer illegally. 40-year-old Darrick Postel and 24-year-old Brandon Brandt have both charged with gross misdemeanor transporting big game illegally and several misdemeanors for the incident. Postel also faces a felony charge of unlawful possession of a firearm. The 2 were spotted butchering a deer in Postel’s garage off North Broadway in New Ulm, but they did not have a permit. They initially claimed that the deer was road-kill, until police noticed a gunshot wound. They then allegedly confessed to shooting the deer, but losing it in a ravine before coming back the next day to retrieve the carcass.
