New Ulm Man Steals Car in Mankato 07 Feb 12

A 20-year-old New Ulm man faces a felony theft of a motor vehicle charge after allegedly stealing a parked car that was left running in Mankato over the weekend. The 1999 Jeep was stolen from in front of the home on Monks Avenue in Mankato at around 3am Saturday after the owner apparently left it running and unlocked while he went inside. When he returned, the vehicle was gone and he called 911. Authorities then stopped the vehicle just 7 minutes later while it was turning into a driveway about a block away. The driver was 20 year-old Christian Evers of New Ulm. Along with the theft of a motor vehicle charge he is also facing a count of 4th-degree DWI. His passengers, 20 year-old Joshua Ristow of Fairfax and 20 year-old Nathan Kruschel of Redwood Falls were also arrested. All three will likely be charged with underage consumption.
