The New Ulm K-Mart store will be closing it’s doors for good in the coming months. The announcement came Thursday that the K-Mart stores in New Ulm and Monticello would be part of the latest round of 15 store closings across the country after the company posted a $2.4-billion net loss in profits in the 4th quarter of 2011. The New Ulm and Monticello K-Marts are the only 2 stores in Minnesota on the latest list. This comes after the closures of 79 Sears and Kmart locations in the US in December. The exact closure date of the New Ulm store is not known at this time, but will likely occur in the next 5 to 6 months.
