The Minnesota Valley Chapter of Habitat For Humanity is currently accepting applications for families in need of housing in the New Ulm area. Plans are underway to begin designing the 9th Habitat For Humanity home in New Ulm, this time in the Milford Heights neighborhood on the west end of town. The criteria include having lived within a 15-mile radius of New Ulm for the past year, the families present home must be ruled unsafe or inadequate, they must have the financial resources to pay a monthly no-interest mortgage, must not be eligible for a conventional bank loan, and must be willing to help with the construction of the home and be willing to keep it in good repair. Applications are available at the New Ulm Public Library, Brown County Family Services, or online at www.newulmhabitat.org. The deadline to apply is February 15th.
