Residents of the Le Sueur County City of Cleveland are being asked to stay away from a creek that runs through the community. Cherry Creek has reportedly become contaminated with E. Coli bacteria due to a breached manure pit south of town. Le Sueur County Environmental Program Specialist Amy Beatty says that the leak was not intentional, and that they have been working with the feedlot owner in determining what corrective actions need to be done. She says that the precipitation the area has received this week will help dilute the hazardous bacteria, and a wet spring should completely solve the issue.
